The material in this file comprises correspondence between Joseph Clapsaddle, William Severns and Donas Jean Russell of the Music Center Presentations, John Tooley and Paul Findlay of the Royal Opera House, Nora Kaye and Kenneth MacMillan about the possibility of a season of Kenneth MacMillan ballets at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion at the Music Center in August 1981. It includes a handwritten draft and typed letter from Kenneth MacMillan to the Editor of The Guardian Newspaper and a typed letter from Peter Wright to Linda Christmas, in response to her article criticising MacMillan's period as Artistic Director of The Royal Ballet, concerns raised by Kenneth MacMillan and Norman Morrice about technical standards at the Royal Opera House, events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Royal Ballet and Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet in 1981, a performance of Romeo and Juliet to celebrate the marriage of TRH The Prince and Princess of Wales, 1981, Ninette de Valois's 80th birthday, the proposed premiere of The Prince of the Pagodas in 1983, to Cameron Mackintosh Productions re the possible release of Stephen Jefferies, the Financial Scrutiny of the Royal Opera House by Clive Priestley, the redevelopment of the Royal Opera House, possible performances by Natalia Makarova in the 1984/85 season.

Photocopies of nine agreements and contracts between Kenneth MacMillan and the Royal Opera House for his services as choreographer and Director of The Royal Ballet, with accompanying correspondence and interdepartmental communications. Correspondence includes a letter from John Tooley to MacMillan explaining the Royal Opera House's intention to introduce a contract for choreographers and enclosing a copy for MacMillan's comments, 23 Dec 1959. Later correspondence references conversations with Deborah MacMillan and proposed changes to contracts and rights.
