Kenneth MacMillan created the one-act ballet Quartet for Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet which premiered on 2.3.1982 at Sadler's Wells Theatre, London. The ballet consisted of a pas de deux entitled Verdi Variations, which MacMillan choreographed early in 1982 for Peter Schaufuss and Elisabetta Terabust to the first movement of Verdi's music, and a new second movement for four dancers. MacMillan subsequently revised the choreography of the first movement and added a third movement. This version premiered on 7 Apr1982 at The Bristol Hippodrome, Bristol, UK. The material comprises: one first night telegram to Deborah Williams (MacMillan) and Kenneth MacMillan from Peter (Wright), 2 Mar 1982
