Mrs Crean was the widow of Christopher Crean - a cook at the Duke of York's residence in Portman Square before taking over the Star and Garter, in Richmond, from James (Richard?) Brewer in 1808.

The notice respectfully informs the Nobility and Gentry of her Third Subscription Ball to be held under the Patronage of Her Grace the Duchess of Buccleuch, on Monday 7th January, 1822. Mrs Crean also returns her most grateful thanks to the Nobility and Gentry of Richmond and its Vicinity for their numerous past favours, being on the point of leaving the Star and Garter, with her Duty, solicits the Honour of their Approbation and Patronage to a Fourth Tea Ball to take place in January.
