Kenneth MacMillan created the one-act ballet Triad for The Royal Ballet which received its premiere on 19.1.1972 at the Royal Opera House, London. The material comprises

1. One handwritten letter from HRH the Princess Margaret to Kenneth MacMillan explaining that she is unable to attend the first night as they are observing mourning for the death of the King of Denmark. On Kensington Palace headed notepaper, with accompanying envelope, both with black borders. In black ink, also signed by Tony (Armstrong Jones), 17.1.1972
2. Two first night telegrams, one from 'Madam' (Ninette de Valois), one from John and Patsy (Tooley), 19.1.1972. The one from Madam has a sticker with 're Triad ABT' on the reverse, written in black biro by Jann Parry. ABT has been crossed through in pencil
3. One handwritten letter from 'Madam' following later performances of Triad, and asking him to 'please embark on at least a 2 act one as soon as possible'. In black biro, dated June (?) 20th. Triad 1972 (Jan or Feb) June written in blue biro on reverse of letter by Jann Parry

Five tributes from colleagues at dance companies in the UK and around the world, sent in the days following the announcement of the death of Kenneth MacMillan

1. From Marcia Haydee and the Stuttgart Ballet to The Royal Ballet. Stuttgart Ballet will revive two of his works next year as a memorial for the twentieth anniversary of the death of John Cranko, to remember both of them, n.d.
2. Message from Carol McPhee to say that English National Ballet will be dedicating their performances that night to Kenneth MacMillan, and sending love and sympathy. 31 Oct 1992

Letter from Isao Hirowatari, Japan Performing Arts Foundation, The Tokyo Ballet, to report that before the performance by American Ballet Theatre on 2 Nov 1992, Kevin McKenzie made a short speech dedicating the performance in memory of Kenneth MacMillan. They placed his photograph and arrangements of flowers both back stage and front of house, 6 Nov 1992, with one colour photograph taken backstage, 30 Oct 1992
4. Copy of fax sent from John Taras to Kevin McKenzie, American Ballet Theatre, with recollections of Kenneth MacMillan which he hopes will be of some use, n.d.
5. Two typed pages of a tribute by Peter Wright written for The Dancing Times, 18 Nov 1992, signed For Deborah with love Peter. An accompanying handwritten note from Peter Wright to Deborah explains that it may have to be held over till the January issue as there is already so much about Kenneth in the December issue.
