One note book with ENGLISH - MACMILLAN handwritten on the spine and THE BALLET A PHOTOGRAPHIC RECORDING on the front cover. The contents include illustrations from magazines and periodicals, with the dancers' names sometimes handwritten on the page but no credits or dates for the cuttings. The cuttings cover British and European ballet companies from the 1900s to the 1930s, including Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, Adeline Genee, Phyllis Bedells, the Markova-Dolin Company and the Vic-Wells Ballet

One photograph album of press cuttings including two pages of cuttings for performances of The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella by Sadler's Wells Ballet in 1951, and then exclusively for ballets by Kenneth MacMillan from Somnambulism to House of Birds. The album includes programmes for the first performances of Somnambulism and Laiderette by the Sadler's Wells Choreographic Group, three telegrams for the first night of The Great Detective and a flyer for the first performance by Ballet Rambert of Laiderette at Sadler's Wells Theatre.

This album contains a one-page typed scenario for Le Baiser de la fee, programmes for Danses concertantes and House of Birds at Sadler's Wells Theatre in 1955, the first night of Noctambules at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 1954, American Ballet Theatre in Winter's Eve at the Teatro Nacional de San Carlo, Lisbon, in 1957 and in Journey at the Phoenix Theatre in 1957. There is an invitation to the American premiere of Winter's Eve at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, in 1957, and two flyers for Sadler's Wells Theatre, London and the Gaumont Theatre, Southampton in 1955. Correspondence comprises two letters from Kenneth Clark, one handwritten to Kenneth MacMillan enclosing a copy of a typed letter to the Observer newspaper, complaining about Richard Buckle's review of House of Birds, a typed letter from Norman Tucker, Director of Sadler's Wells Theatre commissioning a new work from MacMillan 2 Sep 1954, an autograph letter from Margot Fonteyn on Panamanian Embassy, London headed notepaper, sending her and Tito's congratulations on House of Birds 17 July, and a typed letter on Royal Opera House headed notepaper, praising his ballet, 'Madame was very pleased with the whole evening', from Jane [?], n.d.

Kenneth MacMillan was awarded the Prix Italia, a prize for radio and television programmes, for MacMillan's Mayerling, directed by Derek Bailey. This file contains the souvenir publication that give background to the Prix Italia, the members, judges and the programmes nominated, including three pages on MacMillan's Mayerling, a compliments slip and business card. There is a letter from Pat [Lovell], congratulating Kenneth MacMillan, 13 Oct 1978.
