Kenneth MacMillan was invited to give a talk on The Notation of Dance at the International Symposium on Images and Understanding organised by The Rank Prize Funds. Monica Parker gave the talk on his behalf as he was abroad. The file contains correspondence about the symposium, a copy of the provisional program, a bound Abstract Book, a printed invitation to the celebratory Dinner, a printed programme, a typed list of participants with their names and addresses, a name badge for Sir Kenneth MacMillan with pin, and a colour leaflet about The Rank Prize Funds with a brief biography of Lord Rank, 1982

Kenneth MacMillan created the three-act ballet The Prince of the Pagodas for The Royal Ballet which premiered on 7.12.1989 at the Royal Opera House, London. There are two files of Benesh Movement Notation score. This file contains

  1. Ring bound volume containing 22 pages with 5 additional pages loose, in pencil and black biro, dated Feb 1988 on front cover. The last page has a long note to Monica (Parker?) explaining difficulties with the score. The signature is not legible but possibly from Michele Braban
  2. Ring bound volume containing four pages of photocopies of the score, 12 pages with two additional pages, in pencil
  3. 31 original pages of score and 75 pages of photocopies of score, many with notes and queries to MP (Monica Parker), unsigned but possibly from Michele Braban. One handwritten note by Monica Parker titled Teddy -Mesmeric in pencil attached to one page of score, 8 pages of photocopies of the music score

In March 1987 there was an exchange of correspondence between Kenneth MacMillan, his agent Michael Oliver, and Charles France at American Ballet Theatre about Monica Parker's involvement in casting decisions for The Sleeping Beauty. The material includes three pages of handwritten notes by Deborah MacMillan about 'Things objecting to', a handwritten draft by Kenneth MacMillan to Charles France with things he took exception to, and a four page handwritten letter from Charles France to Kenneth MacMillan with apologies and explanation of events

Kenneth MacMillan created the three-act ballet Manon for The Royal Ballet which premiered on 7.3.1974 at the Royal Opera House. The ballet was recorded in Benesh Movement Notation by Monica Parker and there are four files of the score in the Kenneth MacMillan Archive Collection. This file contains photocopies of Monica Parker's working score and includes some material that is not in the original score. The material comprises

  1. A typed note giving instructions for arranging the score in the folder
  2. Act I, 40 pages of photocopied Benesh Movement Notation score
  3. Act II, 48 pages of photocopied Benesh Movement Notation score

Kenneth MacMillan created the one-act ballet of Anastasia for the Deutsche Opera which premiered on 25.6.1967 in Berlin. This became Act III in the three-act version that he created for The Royal Ballet, which premiered at the Royal Opera House, London, on 22.7.1971. This file includes an incomplete version of the Benesh Movement Notation score written by Monica Parker. Material comprises

  1. Two page typed cast list for the 1972/73 season, London, with amendments by Kenneth MacMillan in black felt tip pen
  2. Carbon copy of two paged typed cast list for performances in New York, 1972
  3. Two page typed cast list for the 1974/5 season, London
  4. Two pages of score with the cast list (with understudies) in pencil, with some additions in black ink, dated Sept 1971
  5. Cover page Anastasia Act I listing the characters for the 3 movements plus 13 pages of score in pencil, pages numbered both sides 1 - 26 in red biro
  6. Cover page Anastasia Act I listing dancers and the dances plus 24 pages of score in pencil, pages numbered both sides 1 - 48 in red biro

The first page is titled Anastasia - 3rd Act 1st Movement, page 4 is titled 2nd Movement, page 8 is titled 3rd Movement, page 10 ends with Fin. One page of blue card with pencil notes on the front for Act III (tbc), seven pages title 1st Movement, two empty pages, seven further pages, one last page with 1st Movement Anastasia at top, 2nd Mvt and 3rd in margin, all in pencil
