In 1978 MacMillan's Mayerling directed by Derek Bailey was nominated for, and won, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for Best Television Documentary. The first Evening Standard Ballet Awards were presented in 1973. There are printed programmes of the Awards presented in 1976, 1978 (two copies) and 1994. Kenneth MacMillan was presented with the Most Outstanding Achievement in Ballet Award in 1978. The programmes list previous winners and the 1994 programme lists Sir Kenneth MacMillan for Most Outstanding Achievement in Ballet in 1991. There are two programmes for the Drama Awards for 1978 and for 1982 that give the order of the evening and the menu for the dinner at the Savoy Hotel, with place names for Mr Kenneth MacMillan and Mrs Deborah MacMillan in the 1979 menu.

Kenneth MacMillan won the International Emmy Award for A Lot of Happiness, a ballet created for Granada Televsion in 1982, and for The Judas Tree, his final work for The Royal Ballet in 1992.
